Hello and welcome to our follow-up article on retrieving the Venus 1500 Version 4 Database!

Last week we discussed how to retrieve the running presentations off your display. We hope you found that helpful! This week, we will be discussing what you should do if you ever accidentally delete any of your content.

Recently, I received a call from a customer who said, “Oh no, I was cleaning up some of my old content and deleting what I don’t use anymore, but now everything is gone! Oops, I think I deleted ALL my content; what do I do now?!

Has this ever happened to you? If so, there may still be a chance for you to restore your content. You see, Venus 1500 Version 4 runs an automatic backup every 7 days.

Please follow these steps to see if you can still retrieve all of your content:

  1. Determine if you are running a Windows 32 Bit or Windows 64 Bit system by going to your Start Menu, right-clicking Computer, and selecting Properties. There you will find the system type.
  2. Once you have determined the system type, you will be able to find the Backup file. Choose the below path that works for you based on your system type:

          32 Bit: C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Backup

          64 Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Backup

  1. Determine if the nucbak file has been modified since before or after your content was deleted. If the Date modified is later than the date the presentations were deleted, then unfortunately there is no way to retrieve them. However, if the Date modified is before the date the content was deleted, then you can retrieve your content!Date Modified
  2. Close out of Venus 1500 Version 4 and load the nucbak file to your computer by  using the proper version of the Database Utility that we discussed in part 1 of our Database series.
