HE COULD. GO. ALL. THE. WAY!

Have you ever displayed a player stat after a long drive or touch down and his stats haven’t updated from Game Statistics information System (GSIS)?

This was happening to Jay O’Brien, Baltimore Ravens director of broadcasting and game-day productions. The last play widget provides game-day operators the knowledge that the most recent play has been entered by GSIS, the official statistical entry system for professional football. This widget informs the operator the statistical information they are about to put on the LED displays is up to date and accurate.

“Prior to the last play widget, we could not confirm that the most recent play had been inputted by GSIS,” said O’Brien. “This led to situations where a big play would occur, we would trigger the statistical graphic and that big play was not yet inputted. As a result, we often waited too long to give our fans the information they expect from us. The last play widget now gives us the confidence that our statistical graphics are both timely and accurate.”

The Last Play Widget is located on the bottom tool bar in Display Studio. When GSIS inputs the most recent play you will see the game in progress information, such as ‘1st&10 TEN 43 Q:1’. If you expand the widget by pushing the up arrows you will get the detailed information, (7:57)(Shotgun) Smith pass to Bennett pushed ob at TEN 43 for 20 yards (Jones).
