As 2017 draws to a close, we have much to celebrate. Santa’s elves would be envious of the buzzing in the factory, while trucks rolling in and out with digital displays would make Rudolph’s head spin!
We have much for which to be thankful, most of all our wonderful customers. We are honored by the loyalty of our long-time partners and excited about many new relationships we’ve begun this past year.
As we prepare for the holiday break to relax with family and friends while recharging for another busy year, we leave you with a Daktronics’ spin on a familiar classic, written by our own Becky Coudron:
‘Twas the month before DakMas, when all through the plant
Everyone scurried to meet our demand;
The work orders were hung by the assembly line with care,
In hopes that the truckers soon would be there;
The employees were nestled all snug in their stations,
Visions of happy customers filled their imaginations;
And Greg in his office, and Mark on the floor,
Were working to get the displays out the door,
When out in the plant there arose such a clatter,
Greg sprang from his chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the blinds and threw up the sash.
The fluorescent lights on the manufacturing floor
Drew his watchful eyes to the shipping dock door,
Where he worried about the blizzard scheduled for later
But instead saw a slew of trucks, and their flatbed trailers,
With friendly truck drivers, so lively and quick,
He knew in a moment the clock had started to tick.
More rapid than eagles the shipping group worked,
Loading displays, tightening straps with a jerk.
“Now, Astral! now, Burkhart! now, Optimum Outdoor!
On, Clear Channel! on Lamar! on, Coast and 6 Outdoor!
To the North into Canada! to the South into Texas!
Now dash to the East Coast! Now dash to the West!”
As the team worked together, like a well-oiled machine,
Each display rolled off the line, waiting to be seen,
By future travelers, each truck hit the road
With trailers full of displays, and Dak pride on each load.
And then, in a twinkling, there rose from the floor
Cheers from our staff, going up in a roar.
For they knew we had done it, we’d met our demand,
Even though a challenge, we’d met the tasks at hand.
With thankful hearts, we retire to enjoy the holiday season,
Keeping in mind that you are the reason,
For cheer and good tidings all the year through,
Happy Holidays to our Customers, the old & the new.
