Up until just a few years ago, speed of pitch data for baseball was fairly simple. The data included miles/kilometers per hour, pitch and strike out counts. Some venues dedicated personnel to capture pitch types for display use. Today, new pitch and hit interfaces allow MLB, MiLB and now NCAA teams to expand beyond just the speed of pitch.
