New training resources on YouTube

We are excited to share 3 new tutorials that describe how to use some of our new features in Show Control.

Whether you are new to Daktronics control equipment or an advanced user, the Daktronics Control Systems YouTube channel has videos for you.

This week we posted 3 new video tutorials that will walk you through step-by-step how to use existing and new features in Content Studio.

For our new Standard Order customers or users that need a refresher on Content Studio check out our latest video on Editing Custom Headshot Templates. This demonstrates creating a headshot graphic using a custom background, text, and real-time data. We are excited to bring you the next two videos that highlight some of the new functionality in Show Control. You probably remember us talking about this feature during IDEA and in a couple different blog posts earlier this year. Combining multiple fields is a feature in Content Studio that opens up many possibilities when building a presentation. The first video is an introduction to the feature and how it works. The second video takes you through best practices for using the feature with Media RTD. We recommend prior to watching the advanced video you understand how Media RTD works by watching the Introduction to Media RTD on the same YouTube channel.

This features are intended for Display Studio version 2.01 or above, controlled with DMP-8000.

  1. Just a quick question. At my school, we have women’s basketball player and men’s basketball player with the same last name, Williams. In the example above, where you describe how to add “H” to POSS, I see there is an “Add Field” button. Can I use the same process to add the jersey number to the last name, via the “Add Field” button, so that I could rename their headshot file, from williams.png to something like 10williams.png?

Thank you for your question. That’s another great use case for using the Multiple Fields feature to combine two data fields! As always, our Professional Services team can be reached at ProfessionalServices@daktronics.com to assist you with implementation offline.

  2. Tim, this can be accomplished a number of ways. The best way is to use a custom media-rtd sub-folder for each team as described here:

    Hope that helps!

  3. I just got upgraded and now have the ability to use Advanced MediaRTD. Dovetailing just a bit on my last question about combining jersey# w/last name, if the jersey# is just 1 digit, would the file be named like this, ‘2 SMITH.PNG? Or would it be 2SMITH.PNG? Also, if combining first name & last name for purposes of something like a lower 3rd, is there any way to truncate the trailing blanks of the first name?

Thanks very much for your time!
