This week we’re headed to Detroit for the 2018 AXS Sports Facilities & Franchises and Ticketing Symposium presented by the SportsBusiness Daily/Journal. The conference is always a terrific opportunity to gather insight on key topics in the sports industry, tour local sports facilities and network with other industry professionals.
Over the past few years, Detroit has done a lot to revitalize its downtown area and seems like an excellent showcase location for this conference. Part of the revitalization effort has been focused around the construction and renovation of sports facilities, namely Little Caesars Arena and Ford Field.
At Daktronics, we have a long-standing partnership with the Detroit area. We are proud to be a part of Little Caesars Arena and Ford Field with our products and services, and look forward to a behind-the-scenes tour of each of these two facilities this week.
In 2017, prior to Little Caesars Arena opening its doors as the new home to the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons, Daktronics installed an integrated LED system for the newly constructed arena. The integrated system is highlighted by the world’s largest seamless centerhung display and features 48 LED displays throughout the interior and exterior of the arena.
Daktronics has a long history with both the Red Wings and Pistons. Our display systems were also featured at both Joe Louis Arena and the Palace of Auburn Hills, previous homes to the Red Wings and Pistons.
Also in 2017, Ford Field underwent major renovations which included new video displays from Daktronics. The most unique of the new displays includes two 360-degree circular-shaped super column LED wraps, a first in the NFL.
Ford Field and Daktronics’ partnership dates back to the original opening of the stadium in 2002 when Daktronics was chosen to provide video technology that ended up serving the Lions for a decade and a half.
Across the street from Ford Field, Comerica Park, also features a Daktronics integrated system. While we unfortunately won’t be stopping by Comerica Park this week, the ballpark also represents Daktronics strong presence and commitment to the area.
We are excited to attend this year’s symposium and showcase some of the most unique LED displays in the industry.
