Daktronics on Display During New York Digital Signage Week

More than 220,000 square feet of Daktronics LED video has been installed throughout 80+ locations in Times Square and NYC.

Giant outdoor advertising spectaculars have defined the Times Square landscape for decades. In 1986, we provided display equipment for the Dow Jones Zipper, our first ever project in Times Square, but certainly not the last. In the mid-90s, we helped reinvent the outdoor advertising industry by pioneering the design and manufacture of LED video technology.

LED became the preferred form of technology and while the number of LED spectaculars increased, so did the number of display manufacturers. Throughout the years, many have come and gone. They didn’t have the ingenuity, support or capacity needed to maintain their signage inside the area’s relentless operating environment.

Daktronics remains the one constant.

We take pride in the work we’ve accomplished every time we look out from our Times Square office window. Whenever there has been a digital challenge in Times Square or NYC, there’s always been a Daktronics solution.

In celebration of this amazing industry that is NYC DOOH, New York Digital Signage Week (NYDSW), a weeklong celebration of this environment’s iconic signage takes place Oct. 29 – Nov. 2.

5 days, 28 events, 83 speakers and 3,000+ visitors make up the weeks itinerary, ranging from conferences and live podcasts to exclusive socials. Daktronics kicks the week off with the AVNation Live Podcast from our Times Square office on Monday, October 28 at 2:00 PM ET. Be sure to tune in!

Daktronics first Times Square LED display was installed in 1995. Since then, more than 220,000 square feet of Daktronics LED video has been installed throughout 80+ locations in Times Square and NYC.
