Spring is coming. Eventually. And with it, the start of Major League Soccer’s 2019 season. A season that will see Minnesota United FC open a new home stadium at Allianz Field, New York Red Bulls welcome two new main video displays and four total MLS teams using Daktronics displays installed for this season.

That’s a total of 16 LED displays for 10,375 square feet of digital screens to inform and entertain fans. Teams in New York, Minnesota, Cincinnati and Kansas City will all be playing home matches with an added entertainment element from Daktronics.

Over the years, our company has installed LED display systems that are currently in use at 13 of the 24 MLS teams, including a showcase at last year’s All-Star Game and MLS Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, home to more LED real estate than any sporting venue in the world.

Speaking of Minnesota, did you happen to see their holiday video? Our Creative Services team created the content and our Professional Services team helped coordinate with Allianz Field to make this beauty happen:

That video features 11 LED displays – 5,250 square feet – flashing colors and content in sync with the music for your viewing pleasure. The stadium features a main video display with a 15HD pixel layout measuring 23 feet high by 115 feet wide to engage soccer fans.

Minnesota United FC CEO Chris Wright had this to say:

“One of Minnesota United’s biggest goals is providing the best possible match day experience for our fans. This partnership with Daktronics guarantees that the displays at Allianz Field will be absolutely top-of-the-line elements that will raise that experience to a new, incredible level for fans everywhere in the stadium.”

On the east coast, the Red Bulls are also looking for a better experience for their fans. Two new main displays are being installed at Red Bull Arena, each being 35% larger than their previous screens. Each will measure 24 feet high by 55 feet wide and feature 10-millimeter SMD line spacing.

FC Cincinnati and Sporting Kansas City have both added new pitch perimeter displays to supply additional sponsorship and content opportunities. For more information about our pitch perimeter displays, view this brochure.

With all of this new technology at MLS stadiums, it’s going to be an amazing season for fans as they attend matches or view them on television. We’d encourage everyone to try to attend a game in 2019 to experience the live event and how the displays impact the atmosphere firsthand. Pick a match with your favorite team in your area and enjoy the live action!
