Yes, you CAN sell sponsorships during a pandemic

Are you trying to decide if you should be out selling sponsorships right now? You can do it with some help and inspiration.

Asking for money is never an easy task, and during the pandemic it can seem even more daunting. But getting started may be the toughest part. Here are a few things that some of our customers have discovered as they raised money for their scoreboards, even during this time of COVID-19.

  1. Ask. Yes, there are certain businesses that are suffering right now, and you want to be sensitive to that. But you may be surprised at the response you get. Many businesses are excited to get their names out there as they ramp up again.
  2. Get students involved. Students can be very motivated when a video board is the end result. Whether you get them involved in creating promotional videos, coming up with ideas for potential sponsors or just keeping them in the loop about your progress, it’s always good for them to get some skin in the game.
  3. Remember why you’re asking for sponsorships. It’s all about the students. Raise money for athletics. Enhance the experience for athletes and fans. Provide opportunities for students to learn new skills and get involved. It’s more important than ever.
  4. Connect local businesses. Many people want to support their local high schools, especially now. While they may not be able to commit to a large sponsorship, businesses are often happy to be included in the ask.
